Core Software Engineer, C++

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Contribute to, analyze, and enhance the performance of the core ClickHouse database.

• Focus on optimizing queries, distributed query processes, relational operators, caching, and low-level SIMD optimizations.

• Develop new performance tests and extend existing ones using both real-world and synthetic datasets.

• Act as a resource for Support Engineering by troubleshooting complex customer performance challenges.

• Engage in an on-call rotation and support external community channels.

• Collaborate with various teams to evaluate the performance and reliability implications of new features.

• Address open-source issues, review and complete pull requests, and respond to inquiries across email, chat, Google Groups, and external Slack channels.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong professional software development experience in C++.

• Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.

• In-depth understanding of database internals and design principles.

• Proven experience in performance engineering.

• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate within and across engineering teams.

• Willingness to engage closely with the open-source community.

• Experience in code reviews with a focus on patience and attention to detail.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and production debugging skills.

• Enthusiasm for efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance.

• A high degree of responsibility, ownership, and accountability.

• Familiarity with ClickHouse is a plus.

• Background in security, privacy, and compliance is advantageous.

• Experience with TCP/IP and network programming is beneficial.

• Background in developing cloud infrastructure services, particularly with Kubernetes, is a plus.

• Experience in delivering public presentations at technical conferences and meetups is a plus.

• Previous contributions to open-source projects are advantageous.
