This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Deliver well-structured, finalized versions of policies, procedures, and other governance-related documents.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders on work products.
• Ensure that timelines and deliverables are consistently met.
• Secure management approval for all completed work products.
• Offer guidance to both career and non-career staff on drafting policies and procedures.
• Assist with additional communications and governance documents as required.
• Review and refine standard operating procedures, policies, and other written directives.
• Correct errors in grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation, and other aspects of the English language.
• Analyze written material to guarantee that messaging is clear and cohesive.
• Conduct research to validate factual assertions.
• Identify and rectify basic page layout and typography mistakes, or instruct graphic personnel to address them.
• Aid in the preparation of final deliverables.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution AND at least three years of work experience demonstrating effective information organization and communication skills.
• Significant relevant experience may be accepted in place of the educational requirement.
• Experience in supporting law enforcement and/or legal drafting is preferred.
• Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Favorable credit checks for all cleared roles.
• Successful completion of a background investigation, including drug screening.
• Residency requirement: must have lived three consecutive years within the last five years.
• Advanced proficiency in grammar, syntax, spelling, and punctuation.
• Capability to ensure that written products are accurate, clear, concise, and adhere to established style guides.
• Ability to analyze written content at various levels, including paragraph, page, and chapter.
• Proficient in conducting research online, utilizing public databases, and consulting with subject matter experts.
• Familiarity with basic page layout and typography.
• Ability to work independently and under supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), including Track Changes functionality.
• Proficient with Adobe Acrobat, including Comment tools.
• Capable of writing, typing, and using a telephone system.
• Ability to participate in meetings and work while seated for extended periods.
