Controls Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead ongoing enhancements in all smart plant and equipment initiatives.

• Create control systems that deliver real-time feedback to operators and supervisors.

• Collaborate with the OT Support Engineer and maintenance teams to develop user applications for monitoring and controlling production processes.

• Support the Plant Engineering team with electrical engineering design and review for both new and existing equipment installations.

• Engage in Industrial Controller (PLC) programming and the design, development, and troubleshooting of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).

• Develop and troubleshoot the Wonderware System Platform.

• Provide both formal and informal training on OT systems as system modifications are made.

• Establish and maintain asset registers for each site related to OT systems.

• Facilitate data exposure from new and existing sensors for MES data collection.

• Offer support, development, and troubleshooting for automation systems (including Robotics, Vision, Gantry, Storage, etc.).

• Develop and assist with OT Disaster Recovery processes and protocols.

• Travel up to, but not limited to, 50% as necessary to support other locations.

• Keep an updated passport for travel outside of the USA as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred or equivalent work-related experience.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience with Allen Bradley control platforms, including RS Logix 500, 5000, Panel Builder, and Studio 5000.

• At least 3 years’ experience in project engineering.

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in project management.

• At least 3 years’ experience in AutoCAD.

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the food industry is preferred.

• Familiarity with and knowledge of IT infrastructure.
