Controls Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for essential facilities.

• Create control philosophies, operational sequences, points lists, and network architectures.

• Prepare and assess control system schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and commissioning teams on controls engineering.

• Assist in the integration of HVAC systems, electrical monitoring, and various building systems.

• Evaluate contractor submissions, Requests for Information (RFIs), and technical documents.

• Provide engineering assistance during construction, commissioning, and project completion.

• Ensure that designs adhere to project standards, Canadian regulations, and relevant industry best practices.

• Engage in multidisciplinary design reviews and contribute to ongoing quality enhancement.

• Work collaboratively across several mission-critical data center projects according to business requirements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), or industrial/process controls engineering.

• In-depth knowledge of DDC control systems and HVAC control strategies.

• Proven experience in developing control sequences, points databases, and system architectures.

• Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Delta Controls, or Tridium Niagara.

• Proficient understanding of BACnet, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP communication protocols.

• Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering projects.

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in Canada is advantageous.

• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• Must be residing in Canada.

• Resume submission must be in English.

• Operate as an independent, self-employed professional under a formal independent contractor agreement.
