This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Lead the accounting department to ensure precise bookkeeping and a timely, consistent closing process.

• Supervise financial statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, revenue recognition, treasury, tax, and audit activities.

• Manage and enhance the NetSuite, Orb, and Ramp systems stack while ensuring data integrity across various integrations.

• Evaluate workflows and implement effective systems automation and AI-powered processes.

• Establish scalable processes and controls that support growth, including SOC 2 compliance and audit readiness.

• Oversee accounting for usage-based contracts, taking into account commitments, overages, and billing in arrears.

• Analyze SaaS and usage-based customer contracts for impacts on ASC 606 revenue recognition.

• Collaborate with Legal and Sales regarding revenue-recognition-sensitive terms.

• Lead and nurture the accounting team, determining the most effective reporting structure.

• Partner with FP&A, Legal, Revenue Operations, Business Operations, and other departments.

• Manage the annual financial statement audit and tax examinations.

• Coordinate activities with external auditors and tax consultants.

• Supervise corporate tax compliance filings.

• Modernize accounting systems, processes, and team practices through automation and AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active CPA certification is required.

• Proven experience in accounting leadership and people management.

• Experience managing a comprehensive accounting function rather than a specific specialty.

• Expertise in SaaS accounting practices.

• Track record of successfully implementing systems and process automation.

• Hands-on experience utilizing AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini) or AI-enabled workflows to enhance accounting operations.

• Strong understanding of close management, financial reporting, revenue recognition (including ASC 606), and fundamental accounting operations.

• Ability to think on your feet, operate independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience in the fintech or payments sector.

• Familiarity with usage-based or consumption-based business models.

• Experience in a startup, SMB, or mid-market setting with a wide range of accounting responsibilities.

• Big Four experience paired with hands-on management of accounting systems, processes, or team development.

• Direct experience with Orb, Chargebee, or other usage-based billing platforms.

• Direct experience with Ramp or a comparable T&E/spend management platform.
