This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise all accounting operations, encompassing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and the processes for month-end and year-end closings.
• Generate precise and timely financial statements that comply with GAAP standards.
• Oversee ASC 606 revenue recognition pertaining to subscription and curriculum-product revenue.
• Ensure that financial records, reconciliations, and supporting documents are thorough and accurate.
• Lead the annual audit process and serve as the point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
• Create and uphold internal controls while addressing financial, accounting, and compliance risks.
• Guarantee adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Assess and enhance accounting systems, processes, and tools.
• Lead or assist in the implementation and upgrades of ERP systems.
• Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Optimize close, reporting, reconciliation, and transaction-processing operations.
• Mentor and develop accounting professionals.
• Provide financial insights that support business decisions, regulatory compliance, and organizational growth.
• Assist with private-equity reporting obligations.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Active CPA certification.
• A minimum of seven years of progressive accounting experience, with at least two to three years in a Controller or Assistant Controller position.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations.
• Experience in a private-equity-backed or high-growth corporate setting.
• Proven capability to efficiently and accurately manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Strong proficiency in NetSuite or a similar ERP system.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Practical experience applying ASC 606 revenue-recognition principles.
• Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and juggle multiple priorities in a fully remote setting.
• Experience in leading and nurturing accounting professionals.
• Preferred: background in education technology, SaaS, or other subscription-based businesses.
• Preferred: familiarity with Ramp or a similar expense-management platform.
• Preferred: experience in supporting external audits and tax processes.
• Preferred: experience with private-equity reporting or investor-relations requirements.
• Preferred: experience in leading ERP implementations, upgrades, or transformations of accounting systems.
