This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead Notabene’s inaugural external financial statement audit for fiscal years concluding in January 2026 and January 2027.

• Conduct the audit readiness assessment, develop the remediation plan, provide technical insights on firm selection, and manage the daily relationship with auditors.

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for Notabene Inc. and Notabene GmbH.

• Generate GAAP-compliant financial statements, consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and foreign exchange translations in accordance with ASC 830.

• Draft technical accounting positions and memoranda addressing ASC 606, ASC 350-40, ASC 718, and emerging revenue issues related to stablecoin payments.

• Manage Tabs as the primary billing and revenue system, ensuring contract configurations, data integrity, and the connection from Tabs to the general ledger.

• Establish payroll allocation methodologies and create a policy for software development capitalization.

• Design and execute controls for revenue, cash management, procure-to-pay processes, and payroll.

• Assess the accounting technology stack and automate high-volume, rule-based processes such as categorization, reconciliation matching, usage validation, and collections follow-up.

• Supervise accounts receivable and collections with a direct report, along with accounts payable and payroll accounting.

• Manage US tax compliance with external advisors, including income tax provisions and sales tax obligations.

• Coordinate Swiss compliance with local accounting professionals.

• Maintain checklists, policies, and reconciliations for external accounting service providers.

• Report directly to the VP of Finance while overseeing one direct report and external providers.

• Elevate accounting policies, documentation, systems, and automation standards as the organization expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager within a venture-backed organization.

• Demonstrated success in enhancing processes rather than merely maintaining existing ones.

• Experience guiding a company through its first external audit, including specific details on issues encountered and resolutions implemented.

• Ownership of month-end closing processes across multiple legal entities operating in different currencies.

• In-depth, hands-on experience with ASC 606 applied to at least one unique revenue model, successfully defended during an audit.

• Detail-oriented approach to accounting tasks, including calendar management, reconciliation processes, and direct ledger interaction.

• Experience in developing and mentoring a small team or a single direct report.

• Active CPA license is preferred.

• Experience with usage-based or consumption billing, particularly with systems like Tabs, Metronome, Maxio, or similar, is preferred.

• Background in public accounting, especially in auditing, is preferred.

• Familiarity with software development capitalization under ASC 350-40, including auditable time tracking, is preferred.

• Experience transitioning from manual accounting processes to automation while understanding which tasks should remain manual is preferred.

• Knowledge of Swiss entities, including CHF as the functional currency and exposure to Swiss statutory or VAT regulations, is preferred.

• Exposure to digital assets, payment processing, or regulated financial services is preferred.
