This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Maintain a robust and precise financial foundation while providing insights into the organization's financial health.
• Supervise daily accounting operations, encompassing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cash management, and accounting systems.
• Enhance and uphold financial policies, processes, and internal controls.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, expenses, and financial commitments, while identifying potential risks.
• Collaborate with department leaders to enhance financial understanding and budget responsibility.
• Streamline processes, eliminate unnecessary costs, and enhance financial operations.
• Provide timely monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Manage the monthly closing process along with supporting reconciliations, schedules, and documentation.
• Analyze revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and movements within the balance sheet.
• Ensure adherence to accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting responsibilities.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and financial stakeholders.
• Supervise tax, government, and regulatory submissions.
• Maintain forecasts and assist in the annual budgeting process.
• Challenge assumptions and clarify the financial implications of business decisions.
• Translate financial results into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Identify opportunities to enhance margins, control costs, bolster cash position, and increase efficiency.
• Lead, guide, support, coach, and develop the Finance team.
• CPA designation is mandatory.
• Demonstrable experience as a Controller or in a comparable role, ideally within a physical product, ecommerce, or retail setting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
• Proficient in Netsuite or a similar large ERP, and comfortable with financial software systems and tools.
• A strong desire to advance projects.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a sharp attention to detail.
• Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to inspire and motivate a small team.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across diverse teams.
• Flexible remote work arrangement for West Coast Canada.
