Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures.

• Provide precise financial statements, encompassing P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.

• Ensure adherence to GAAP and relevant regulatory guidelines.

• Evaluate journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.

• Direct standard costing, variance analysis, and cost roll-ups throughout operations.

• Assess labor efficiency, material usage, scrap rates, and overhead absorption.

• Guarantee accurate inventory valuation, along with effective controls and cycle count processes.

• Collaborate with plant and operations leaders to enhance profitability and cost management.

• Design, implement, and refine internal control frameworks.

• Lead both internal and external audit activities.

• Manage and enhance cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and fixed assets.

• Propel working capital enhancements across DSO, DPO, and inventory turnover.

• Mentor, coach, and develop the accounting team focusing on AP, AR, GL, and payroll.

• Set performance benchmarks and create a scalable team structure.

• Own and refine ERP systems, including Spectrum and future platforms.

• Promote automation, process standardization, and data integrity.

• Assist with system implementations and integrations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred), Finance, or a related discipline.

• CPA is highly preferred.

• MBA is a plus.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance.

• At least 5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller position.

• Experience in manufacturing is a must.

• Background in a private equity–backed environment is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-site operations.

• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.

• Extensive experience in cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory management.

• Proven track record of producing accurate financial statements and upholding internal controls.

• Strong FP&A skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams of 5 to 15+ employees.

• Strong cross-functional leadership skills with operations, supply chain, and executive teams.

• In-depth understanding of manufacturing operations and cost drivers.

• Ability to convert financial results into actionable business insights.

• Experience with public accounting and financial reporting.

• Prior audit experience is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with Spectrum ERP and future platforms.

• Capability to navigate the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.

• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds in accordance with OSHA standards.

• Must possess adequate vision and hearing to safely navigate the plant and communicate effectively.
