Content Editor, Preschool & Kids

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and revise preschool curricula and short-term studies for children.

• Execute comprehensive editing to ensure theological precision, biblical accuracy, and consistency with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.

• Refine content that is theologically sensitive to enhance clarity, tone, structure, and instructional flow.

• Generate original content, modify or adjust writer submissions, and contribute to outlines, teaching frameworks, and product organization.

• Implement Lifeway style and grammar conventions and make decisions regarding copyfitting.

• Collaborate with Production Editors and designers across print, digital, and multimedia platforms.

• Foster relationships with authors, contract writers, and contributors while providing constructive editorial advice.

• Engage with ministry leaders and church practitioners to comprehend audience needs, trends, and ministry challenges.

• Conduct research to enhance biblical, archaeological, theological, or contextual accuracy.

• Mentor and assist other editors in editorial processes and theological coherence.

• Participate in planning sessions, ministry discussions, and inter-team dialogues.

• Travel to the Middle Tennessee region 2-4 times annually, typically for overnight stays.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Childhood Development, English, Biblical Studies, or a related discipline (required).

• Over 3 years of experience in editorial work or content development.

• More than 3 years of experience in preschool and/or children's ministry-related roles (part-time church staff, teaching ministry, volunteering, or similar).

• Proficient editing skills in manuscript review, theological accuracy, and instructional design.

• Strong editorial judgment that aligns with Scripture and the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills when collaborating with authors, contributors, and cross-functional teams.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to independently manage multiple overlapping editorial projects.

• Skills in content creation, including original writing, rewriting, and developing curriculum frameworks.

• Proficient digital literacy and familiarity with publishing processes for both print and digital formats.

• Active involvement in an evangelical Christian church.

• Understanding of Southern Baptist church culture and ministry frameworks.

• Capability to travel to the Middle Tennessee area 2-4 times each year for team meetings.

• Experience in developing Bible study resources or curricula in a ministry-focused setting (preferred).

• Familiarity with publishing software, such as InCopy (preferred).

• Master's degree in Education, Theology, Biblical Studies, or a related area (preferred; not mandatory).

• An advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc.) is not required.
