Consultant – Virtualization Engineer, Hyper-V, Nutanix

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Interact with clients to comprehend their business objectives, infrastructure challenges, and technological needs.

• Convert client specifications into actionable recommendations and solution proposals that adhere to best practices and industry standards.

• Work alongside solution architects and technical leads to formulate scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient infrastructure solutions.

• Assist in the implementation and deployment of digital infrastructure solutions in collaboration with engineering teams and third-party vendors.

• Set up and deploy cloud environments, virtual networks, and essential infrastructure components.

• Execute testing, troubleshooting, and validation to ensure functionality, performance, and security.

• Aid project managers in planning, scheduling, and monitoring project activities, milestones, and deliverables.

• Design, implement, manage, and maintain Microsoft Hyper-V environments.

• Configure and oversee Windows Failover Clustering to ensure high availability.

• Administer Hyper-V Replica and disaster recovery strategies.

• Create, configure, and sustain virtual machines, virtual switches, and storage systems.

• Monitor the performance, resource utilization, and capacity of Hyper-V hosts.

• Carry out upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management for Hyper-V hosts.

• Resolve issues related to Hyper-V, Windows Server, clustering, and virtualization.

• Support integration with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise networking.

• Automate Hyper-V management through PowerShell scripting.

• Design, implement, and manage Nutanix clusters utilizing AHV.

• Oversee Prism Central and Prism Element environments.

• Configure and maintain Nutanix storage, compute, and networking resources.

• Monitor the health, performance, and capacity of Nutanix clusters.

• Conduct lifecycle management, firmware updates, and cluster upgrades.

• Troubleshoot issues within Nutanix infrastructure, AHV, storage, and networking.

• Implement solutions for high availability, disaster recovery, and data protection.

• Optimize workloads and resource utilization across Nutanix clusters.

• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on initiatives related to virtualization, networking, and storage.

• Maintain technical documentation and operational standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in administering Microsoft Hyper-V environments.

• Extensive experience with Microsoft Hyper-V Core and GUI installations.

• Strong background in Windows Server administration.

• Proven experience with Windows Failover Clustering.

• Significant experience with Hyper-V Replica.

• Proficient in PowerShell scripting.

• Strong familiarity with System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM).

• Experienced with Windows Admin Center.

• Background in enterprise storage technologies that support Hyper-V.

• Experience in implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions.

• Solid understanding of best practices in Windows networking and virtualization.

• 3 to 5+ years of experience managing Nutanix infrastructure.

• Proficient with Nutanix AHV, Prism Central, Prism Element, and Nutanix Lifecycle Manager (LCM).

• Familiar with Nutanix storage and distributed architecture.

• Experience in performing Nutanix cluster upgrades and expansions.

• Understanding of Nutanix networking, virtual networking, and security protocols.

• Experienced with disaster recovery and backup solutions tailored for Nutanix.

• Background in enterprise virtualization technologies.

• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, DNS, and DHCP.

• Experience with enterprise backup solutions like Veeam, Rubrik, or Commvault.

• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools.

• Ability to automate repetitive tasks using PowerShell or similar scripting languages.

• Experience in high-availability, mission-critical environments.

• Willingness to participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call support.

• Experience with both Microsoft Hyper-V and Nutanix AHV.

• Background in migrating workloads between different virtualization platforms.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or hybrid cloud solutions.

• Understanding of VMware vSphere environments and migration strategies.

• Experience in Infrastructure as Code and automation.

• Industry certifications such as Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) are preferred.

• Capability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.

• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
