This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee all layout and field engineering tasks within the designated region, managing multiple layout teams and distributing personnel and equipment across various projects simultaneously.
• Execute and supervise line and grade activities for building layout and control.
• Monitor work during placement to ensure precision and adherence to tolerances.
• Analyze contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for effective coordination and installation.
• Detect and rectify drawing inconsistencies prior to execution.
• Create tolerance checklists and guide comprehensive as-built documentation.
• Support and mentor staff in the creation of accurate as-builts.
• Generate drawings and sketches that facilitate change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project coordination.
• Address tolerance conflicts and jobsite issues using technical expertise.
• Work in conjunction with safety, QA/QC, field operations, and project management teams.
• Collaborate with the Field Operations Manager to predict crew requirements, standardize procedures, and enhance the field engineering function.
• Uphold safety and quality standards.
• Supervise field engineers, layout leads, and survey teams across the assigned region.
• Train team members, organize and delegate tasks, evaluate performance, handle complaints, and resolve issues.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
• A minimum of seven years of field engineering or construction layout experience.
• At least three years of experience managing a survey crew or acting as a layout lead.
• In-depth knowledge of survey equipment and Total Stations; Sokkia preferred, with experience in Leica, Topcon, or Trimble.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or BIM software, including the ability to extract coordinate points from drawings.
• Skilled in Bluebeam and Procore.
• Highly adept at interpreting structural, architectural, and civil drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication abilities.
• Capability to manage diverse teams across multiple job sites.
• Detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced team setting.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Overtime may be necessary.
