This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee all layout and field engineering operations within the designated region, managing multiple layout teams and distributing personnel and equipment across simultaneous projects.
• Execute and supervise line and grade activities for building layout and control.
• Monitor work during placement to ensure precision and adherence to tolerance requirements.
• Examine contracts, specifications, and shop drawings for effective coordination and installation.
• Detect and address drawing discrepancies prior to implementation.
• Create tolerance checklists and oversee regional as-built documentation.
• Support and mentor personnel in the preparation of accurate as-builts.
• Generate drawings and sketches for change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project coordination.
• Address tolerance disputes and job site challenges using technical expertise.
• Collaborate with safety, QA/QC, field operations, and project management teams.
• Work alongside the Field Operations Manager to anticipate crew requirements, standardize procedures, and enhance the field engineering function.
• Set and uphold safety and quality standards.
• Supervise field engineers, layout leaders, and survey crews across the designated region.
• Train team members, assign and manage tasks, evaluate performance, address concerns, and resolve issues.
• Perform additional tasks as required.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or a comparable combination of education and practical experience.
• A minimum of seven years of field engineering or construction layout experience.
• At least three years of experience managing a survey crew or acting as a layout lead.
• Proficient with survey equipment and Total Stations; Sokkia preferred, with experience in Leica, Topcon, or Trimble.
• Skilled in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or BIM software, including the ability to extract coordinate points from drawings.
• Experienced with Bluebeam and Procore.
• Highly adept at interpreting structural, architectural, and civil drawings.
• Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication abilities.
• Capacity to manage diverse teams across various job sites.
• Detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced team environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
