This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead and manage regulatory compliance and privacy oversight initiatives for the UK entity.
• Act as the operational lead for UK privacy compliance and serve as the designated Data Protection Officer (DPO), pending final approvals from the organization and regulators.
• Supervise privacy governance activities such as Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), privacy risk evaluations, incident and breach management, data subject rights, retention and deletion governance, and regulatory documentation.
• Direct regulatory contributions for the Privacy Management Information dashboard, which includes metrics related to consumer outcomes and privacy requirements.
• Create the Privacy Compliance Monitoring Programme in accordance with the firm’s risk appetite, regulatory landscape, and market conditions.
• Assist with the enterprise-wide compliance risk assessment and control inventory.
• Convert legal and regulatory requirements into compliance standards, governance routines, oversight expectations, and program specifications.
• Aid in the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the UK regulatory compliance framework across privacy, conduct, consumer protection, and vulnerable customer initiatives.
• Provide second-line challenge and oversight of first-line control environments, including reviewing control designs, identifying gaps, escalating issues, and tracking remediation efforts.
• Maintain and improve UK compliance issues management, risk assessments, control oversight, and reporting processes.
• Assist with internal and external audits, regulatory inquiries, and reviews by external partners.
• Prepare management reports, governance materials, and issue summaries for senior leadership and governance forums.
• Collaborate with Legal, Product, Engineering, Operations, Risk, Financial Crimes, and Compliance stakeholders.
• Coordinate with regional and global Compliance partners across different jurisdictions.
• Enhance compliance processes, governance routines, documentation standards, and oversight tools.
• Position Compliance as a business-oriented and accessible function.
• 6+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, privacy compliance, risk management, governance, auditing, or a similar control function.
• Preferably experienced in financial services, fintech, banking, or another regulated sector.
• Ideally, have previous experience serving as a DPO in a regulated consumer credit organization.
• Strong knowledge of UK privacy and regulatory compliance expectations, including UK GDPR, governance, DPIAs, breach protocols, data subject rights, consumer protection, conduct risk, vulnerable customers, and related compliance program requirements.
• Experience functioning within a second line of defense model, encompassing governance, oversight, monitoring, and independent challenge of first-line control environments.
• Ability to interpret legal and regulatory requirements into policies, standards, procedures, governance routines, and control expectations.
• Background in supporting audits, regulatory examinations, control assessments, or similar oversight processes in a regulated setting.
• Excellent skills for cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Operations, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders.
• Strong judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to manage sensitive regulatory issues with discretion and rigor.
• Experience in preparing management reports, governance materials, and escalation summaries for senior stakeholders.
• Capable of managing multiple workstreams and transitioning between strategic governance design and day-to-day execution.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; relevant certifications are preferred.
