This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the editorial calendar and manage owned content.
• Create, design, and distribute CDI’s higher education newsletter.
• Generate blog content while maintaining a consistent publishing schedule.
• Execute a cohesive organic social media calendar for brand, executive, and thought-leadership content.
• Collaborate with Partnerships and Marketing on communications regarding webinars, conferences, target segments, and pipeline impact.
• Transform research findings into relevant blog posts, op-ed drafts, social media content, and newsletter highlights.
• Draft and compile thought-leadership materials in collaboration with subject-matter experts.
• Coordinate production timelines with the Impact team and relevant subject-matter experts.
• Develop and maintain press lists and prepare media pitches.
• Assist the VP in obtaining media coverage.
• Monitor CDI’s media coverage and mentions.
• Cultivate direct media relationships over time.
• Create audience-focused marketing materials and guide external designers.
• Uphold brand templates and standards.
• Manage the design-request intake and triage process.
• Collaborate with Demand Generation and Impact teams to produce marketing case studies and testimonials.
• At least 5 years of experience in communications, content marketing, editorial, or journalism.
• A portfolio showcasing published work across newsletters, articles or blogs, social media, and long-form formats.
• Proficient in editorial operations, including calendar management, cadence, and systems.
• Capability to handle multiple content pieces without compromising quality or missing deadlines.
• Proven ability to thrive in a startup or resourceful environment.
• Outstanding writing and editing skills.
• Proficient in producing clear, accurate, and on-message content rapidly.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with subject-matter experts, marketing, and partnerships teams.
• Knowledge of newsworthiness and comfort in drafting media pitches.
• Ability to cultivate press relationships.
• Strong visual and design sensibility.
• Experience directing external designers and maintaining brand templates and standards.
• Political awareness and alignment with CDI’s nonpartisan mission.
• Proficiency with CMS, email platforms such as HubSpot, and social media scheduling tools.
• Ability to utilize modern AI tools while applying human editing and judgment.
• Familiarity with mission-driven, B2B, higher education, or advocacy contexts is preferred.
• Direct media experience, experience with Canva, and knowledge of the higher education landscape are advantageous.
