This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.
• Develop and implement the commissioning process for protection systems related to hydro generators and their associated equipment.
• Conduct configuration, testing, and validation of digital relays and Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) utilizing secondary current and voltage injection methods.
• Confirm protection logic, cause-and-effect matrices, trip circuits, alarms, and interlock systems.
• Execute comprehensive integration testing between protection, control, automation, and excitation systems.
• Observe protection performance during initial rollouts, synchronization, and load rejection tests.
• Examine sequence-of-events (SOE) records and oscillography to verify system integrity.
• Inspect CT and VT circuits to ensure proper connections and polarity compliance.
• Draft procedures and technical reports, and assist Engineering in rectifying design errors or inconsistencies.
• A technical or university degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics, Automation, or Electrical Engineering.
• Prior experience in commissioning protection systems at hydroelectric power facilities.
• Technical expertise in digital relays, IEDs, and secondary injection testing equipment.
• Understanding of protection functionalities for generators, transformers, and auxiliary systems.
• Intermediate proficiency in English.
• Willingness to travel and undertake extended assignments or relocation within Latin American countries.
• Basic knowledge of Spanish is advantageous.
