Commissioning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Execute commissioning responsibilities in a client-facing role.

• Oversee commissioning procedures for building HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems from conceptual design through functional testing and post-occupancy phases.

• Assist with intricate and technically demanding renovation and new construction initiatives.

• Ensure systems are designed, installed, and functioning according to the established design basis and specified criteria.

• Evaluate and validate MEP design documentation, construction submissions, and operational sequences.

• Organize, lead, and document project commissioning meetings.

• Develop comprehensive system checklists and functional performance operational tests.

• Perform site visits and inspections; generate site observation reports.

• Oversee onsite testing and monitoring of complex, integrated systems.

• Identify and proactively address issues with contractors, engineers, and clients.

• Produce professional reports and project deliverables.

• Work under the guidance of senior staff on complex projects while independently leading commissioning teams on simpler projects.

• Primarily serve the regional Midwest areas with approximately 75% travel involved.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related building science, along with two years of pertinent experience, or five years of equivalent work experience in MEP systems.

• Proficient understanding of MEP systems installation and operation.

• Preferred: passed the FE exam and on track for obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) designation.

• Preferred: LEED AP certification and on the path to commissioning certifications such as CxA, CCP, or BCxP.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Skills in technical writing and detailed document formatting.

• Strong organizational abilities and capability to manage ongoing tasks and project documentation effectively.

• Proficient in managing tasks and project scope within budget constraints.

• Ability to understand and interpret complex construction documents and building control systems.

• Capable of diagnosing building system operations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including advanced formatting techniques.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for processing and analyzing BAS trend data.

• Experience with network file management.

• Competence in editing PDF documents.

• Preferred: ability to create formatted layouts.

• Preferred: prior experience with commissioning online software.

• Must be located near a major metropolitan airport.

• Approximately 75% travel required.
