Commissioning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Oversee commissioning efforts for BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA systems across critical mission/data center projects.

• Conduct point-to-point verifications, functional assessments, and integrated systems testing (IST).

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve intricate issues involving controls, networking, and field devices.

• Modify, enhance, and optimize PLC logic and SCADA/BMS software throughout the commissioning phase.

• Facilitate system integration among mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

• Validate control sequences in normal, failure, and redundancy situations, including failover testing.

• Lead and assist with Level 3–5 commissioning tasks, including client observation and sign-off.

• Review design documentation, control narratives, and software to ensure alignment with field implementation.

• Generate and maintain commissioning reports, test scripts, and issue logs.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams regarding scope, timelines, and deliverables.

• Engage with internal teams, customers, and partners effectively.

• Recognize and escalate risks, constraints, or changes in scope.

• Comply with company policies, quality management system (QMS) requirements, and safety standards.

• Spot opportunities for process improvements and contribute to enhancing execution efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Automation, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commissioning, controls engineering, or system integration.

• Extensive experience in mission-critical or data center settings.

• In-depth knowledge of BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA systems, including Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, or Schneider.

• Proven experience in developing or altering PLC code and SCADA/BMS graphics within live project environments.

• Solid understanding of electrical systems, control architectures, and networked systems.

• Ability to interpret and verify control sequences, schematics, and design documentation.

• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills across software, hardware, and integration layers.

• Familiarity with commissioning processes such as FAT, SAT, and IST (Levels 1–5).

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Capacity to prioritize tasks in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Dedication to quality, safety, and accountability.

• Willingness to travel and work on-site as necessary.

• Prepared to travel up to 75% within Ireland, the UK, Netherlands, Denmark, and Finland.
