Commercial Claims Examiner III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Manage a portfolio of commercial property claims from assignment to resolution.

• Assess commercial claims reviewed by independent adjusters to evaluate the extent of insurance coverage and the legitimacy of the claims.

• Audit and adjust commercial loss reserves, correspondence, reports, verify coverage, and authorize payments submitted by independent adjusters.

• Work collaboratively with internal teams and/or legal counsel on claims that involve litigation.

• Investigate, evaluate, and adjust claims, utilizing technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to facilitate fair and timely settlements.

• Supervise independent adjuster files to ensure compliance with CFP IA Guidelines.

• Verify and analyze data utilized in claim settlements to confirm its validity and ensure that settlements adhere to company practices and procedures.

• Ensure compliance with the Department of Insurance and company protocols.

• Recognize indicators of fraud or illegal activities and follow internal procedures to refer claims to the appropriate personnel for further action.

• Negotiate settlements promptly, ensuring that they reflect the insured losses while safeguarding the insurer against invalid claims.

• Prioritize claims exceeding $500,000, while also accepting smaller claims as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.

• Over 5 years of experience in property claims adjusting, with a preference for at least 2 years in commercial property claims.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Proficient in MS-Office, particularly Word and Excel.

• In-depth understanding of policy contracts/statutes and claims processes.

• Certified in CEA and Fair Claims Settlement Practices.

• 4 years of commercial experience, including 2 years managing claims over $500,000.
