This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +32 more states.
• Monitor assigned accounts to ensure high cash flow until accounts are settled, resolved, completed, referred to a collection agency, or classified as uncollectable.
• Reach out to patients, employers, insurance companies, and government entities via phone or mail to facilitate prompt payment.
• Build strong working relationships with patients, collection agencies, vendors, and internal teams to address account-related issues.
• Manage requests, inquiries, and complaints associated with the bad debt collection process.
• Address patient concerns regarding billing and collection operations using effective credit management strategies.
• Analyze insurance verification, billing, follow-up, collection, and legal information to assist in resolving patient inquiries and account matters.
• Record reasons for account openings, processes undertaken, and actions taken to address pending issues.
• Keep track of settlement offers, vendor remittances, and cash posting discrepancies related to bad debt accounts.
• Acquire knowledge and execute tasks in all patient billing systems to effectively manage bad debt accounts.
• Strive to maintain the lowest possible bad debt expense write-off ratio through efficient collection techniques.
• Keep and reconcile placement records with third-party agencies.
• Resolve discrepancies between bad debt totals and third-party records.
• Observe trends in agency or patient billing concerns and notify management accordingly.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Generally requires 2 years of experience in insurance processing, collections, or customer service.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to swiftly adapt to new systems and processes.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills.
• Capable of quickly reviewing information and making informed decisions.
• Willingness to take on special projects and new job assignments as needed by the business.
• Knowledge of medical insurance billing, accounts, and/or legal processes.
• Must be able to sit for the majority of the workday.
• Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. when handling manuals and binders.
• Operates all necessary equipment to complete job duties.
• No specific licensure, registration, or certification required.
