Collaborating Physician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Physician Assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in urgent care through a telemedicine platform, offering expert supervision and guidance for clinical decision-making, diagnosis, and treatment plans.

• Be accessible to PAs and NPs to discuss patients who meet WellNow’s criteria for consultation.

• Evaluate patient cases remotely, analyzing medical histories, symptoms, and pertinent diagnostic data to deliver accurate diagnoses and evidence-based treatment recommendations.

• Ensure adherence to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and regulatory standards for urgent care practices.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to PAs and NPs through regular feedback, case discussions, and educational materials.

• Assess and triage urgent care cases, determining the necessary level of care, including referrals to specialists or transfers to emergency departments when needed.

• Keep abreast of developments in urgent care medicine, best practices, and evidence-based guidelines.

• Engage in quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, efficiency, and care quality.

• Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient encounters to ensure legal, regulatory, and billing compliance.

• Exhibit professionalism, empathy, and clear communication when interacting with medical staff and patients, including follow-up instructions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active and unrestricted medical license in the applicable jurisdiction.

• Demonstrated experience as a Collaborating Physician in an urgent care, emergency department, or telemedicine environment.

• Familiarity with telemedicine technologies and platforms, including electronic medical records (EMR) systems and video conferencing tools.

• Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in urgent care medicine, including the capability to diagnose and treat a variety of acute medical conditions.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear remote guidance and build rapport with PAs, NPs, and patients.

• Commitment to safeguarding patient privacy, confidentiality, and compliance with legal and ethical standards in telemedicine practice.

• Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team setting, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to evolving telemedicine workflows.

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.

• Successful completion of a residency program in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine.

• Board Certification in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine.
