This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Assist in the daily operations of the coding department.
• Supervise caregivers within the department.
• Address inquiries and issues related to coding.
• Oversee quality assurance audits.
• Identify and engage in operational enhancements.
• Monitor Epic Coding work queues, in-basket messages, inpatient note reports, and ensure timely charge entry.
• Track departmental KPIs, weekly objectives, and charge lag.
• Participate in the interviewing, onboarding, and orientation of new caregivers.
• Coach caregivers and create and oversee corrective action plans.
• Document necessary touch bases.
• Monitor staffing levels, coder productivity, quality assurance audits, and adherence to protocols and guidelines.
• Support coders by managing schedules and flex time, as well as reviewing and approving timecards.
• Anticipate future resource requirements and develop action plans for areas not meeting goals.
• Collaborate with Coding Manager(s) and other departments to align with Medical Group objectives and goals.
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician) certification is mandatory.
• Proven experience in professional fee coding, including Evaluation & Management (E/M) services is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• At least two (2) years of experience in professional fee coding is preferred.
• Experience coding for specific specialty service lines is preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
• Previous experience with Epic is preferred.
• Familiarity with Medicare coding guidelines, including NCCI and LCD/NCD is essential.
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 is required.
• Experience with Epic/PB Resolute is preferred.
• Strong accuracy and attention to detail are necessary.
• Excellent collaborative and communication skills are required.
• Ability to navigate Epic EMR, reports, and work queues is essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Kronos, ServiceHub, and Optum Encoder Pro is necessary.
• Capability to see and read information, labels, documents, and monitors is required.
• Ability to verbally communicate and comprehend spoken information is essential.
• Manual dexterity for frequent computer use and handling equipment is necessary.
