Coding Specialist II – Profee Oncology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Select and arrange ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for specific patient categories.

• Examine and evaluate facility records to confirm that APC assignments and/or Evaluation and Management codes accurately represent documented diagnoses and procedures.

• Extract clinical data following documentation review to substantiate diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition.

• Execute assigned work tasks utilizing the appropriate resources.

• Serve as a resource for client staff regarding data integrity, clarification, and compliant coding practices, including provider inquiries.

• Uphold strict confidentiality of patient and provider information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

• Engage in client and Savista staff meetings, training sessions, and conference calls.

• Keep up-to-date with coding guidelines, government regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements.

• Take part in continuing education initiatives to enhance knowledge, skills, and maintain current credentials.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must pass a pre-employment skills assessment successfully.

• An active AHIMA credential such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or an active AAPC credential including COC, CCS-P, CPC, or a related specialty credential is required.

• A minimum of two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience is necessary.

• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, as well as ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS code sets is essential.

• Ability to code consistently at a 95% quality threshold while meeting client-specific and/or Savista production and quality standards.

• Proficient in computer applications including MS Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel; capable of entering data, sorting, and filtering Excel files.

• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.

• Recent and relevant experience in an active production coding environment is highly preferred.

• An Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related healthcare field, or a combination of equivalent education and experience is preferred.

• Experience with Rcx, Cerner, or NextGen is a plus.
