Coding Specialist II – OB/GYN Profee

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Select and arrange ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for specific patient categories, which include physician professional fees, technical fees, evaluation and management, hospital services, clinic visits, ancillary services, and recurring services.

• Review and evaluate facility records to confirm that APC assignments and/or evaluation and management codes accurately represent documented diagnoses and procedures.

• Abstract clinical data following documentation review to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition.

• Execute assigned tasks utilizing the appropriate resources.

• Serve as a resource for client staff concerning data integrity, clarification, and compliant coding practices, which includes provider queries.

• Uphold strict patient and provider confidentiality in adherence to HIPAA regulations.

• Engage in client and Savista staff meetings, training sessions, and conference calls.

• Keep up-to-date with ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, coding guidelines, government regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements.

• Participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance knowledge, skills, and maintain current credentials.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment skills assessment.

• An active AHIMA credential such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or an active AAPC credential including COC, CCS-P, CPC, or a related specialty credential is required.

• A minimum of two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience is necessary.

• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, ICD-10, and CPT/HCPCS code sets is essential.

• Ability to consistently achieve a coding accuracy of 95% while adhering to client-specific and/or Savista production and/or quality standards.

• Proficient knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to enter data and sort and filter Excel files.

• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities when interacting with internal and external customers.

• Recent and relevant experience in an active production coding environment is highly preferred.

• An associate degree in Health Information Management or a healthcare-related field, or equivalent education and experience is preferred.

• Experience with Rcx, Cerner, or NextGen is advantageous.
