This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate clinical documentation and assign as well as sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for specific patient categories.
• Choose and order ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for ancillary services, hospitals, clinics, physician professional fees, technical fees, and evaluation and management services.
• Examine and assess facility records to verify that APC assignments and/or evaluation and management codes accurately represent documented diagnoses and procedures.
• Extract clinical data following documentation review to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge outcomes.
• Fulfill assigned work responsibilities using suitable resources.
• Serve as a resource for client staff regarding data accuracy, clarification, and compliant coding practices, including provider inquiries.
• Engage in client and Savista staff meetings, training sessions, and conference calls.
• Keep up-to-date with ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, coding guidelines, government regulations, protocols, and third-party coding/billing requirements.
• Participate in continuing education activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and retain current credentials.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment skills assessment.
• Active AHIMA credential such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or an active AAPC credential including COC, CCS-P, CPC, or a related specialty credential.
• A minimum of two years of recent, relevant hands-on coding experience.
• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, ICD-10, and CPT/HCPCS coding systems.
• Ability to consistently achieve a 95% quality coding threshold while adhering to client-specific and/or Savista production and/or quality standards.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel; must be able to enter data and manage sorting and filtering in Excel files.
• Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving abilities with internal and external customers.
• Recent and relevant experience in an active production coding environment is highly preferred.
• An associate degree in Health Information Management or a healthcare-related field, or a combination of equivalent education and experience is preferred.
• Experience with Rcx, Cerner, or NextGen is an advantage.
• Must uphold patient and provider confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
