Coding Education Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Investigate intricate coding challenges and propose solutions

• Assess training requirements and formulate processes

• Create and revise coding lessons, projects, and assessments tailored for various learning objectives and audiences, including USACS and vendor coders

• Provide engaging instruction through OnBase, Pulse, Workday, and Articulate in both in-person and virtual classroom settings

• Track learner progress, offer feedback, and provide individual or group assistance

• Evaluate learner performance through both formative and summative assessments; analyze and present data

• Engage in external training programs and deliver presentations to attract candidates to the internal coding team

• Develop and maintain coding resources, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and site pages

• Investigate coding topics and challenges, formulate problem statements, offer recommendations, and create and deliver educational or continuous-improvement updates

• Collaborate with RCM internal teams to ensure accurate implementation of coding processes, guidelines, and policies

• Provide educational consultations to staff within the internal Coding Department

• Support and participate in QA webinars, quarterly coding meetings, and vendor calibration calls

• Analyze and trend audit results, identify root causes, initiate targeted education, and monitor improvements

• Develop and implement coder edits to address risk areas and track outcomes

• Perform additional departmental duties as required

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• RHIT, RN, CPC, or CCS-P certification

• Experience in Emergency Department professional fee coding

• Proficient knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding

• Understanding of payer and coding guidelines

• Proficient in using personal computers in a Windows environment, particularly Excel, Word, Adobe, PowerPoint, and Zoom

• Strong attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and capacity to work independently

• Competence in identifying, researching, and resolving problems and discrepancies

• Professional communication skills with employees, management, physicians, and vendors

• Ability to uphold confidentiality

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities

• Capability to sit for extended periods and occasionally walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 15 pounds

• Close visual acuity is required
