Coding Education Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and revise coding education curricula according to the latest coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.

• Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and webinars for coders and related personnel.

• Develop e-learning modules and online courses utilizing multimedia tools and e-learning platforms.

• Provide practical support to coders by assessing coding accuracy and ensuring compliance.

• Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement specialists to ensure precise and thorough medical documentation.

• Perform coding audits and deliver comprehensive feedback to enhance coding accuracy and expertise.

• Provide continual education on coding innovations and emerging trends in healthcare.

• Instruct coders on compliance regulations, ethics, as well as fraud and abuse prevention.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management is required.

• A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

• Experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

• 2–3 years of coding experience is required.

• Teaching experience is preferred (1–2 years).

• Certification such as CCS, CPMA, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CHC, or CPB is required.

• Strong instructional capabilities are essential.

• Thorough knowledge of coding guidelines, compliance regulations, and industry standards is necessary.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.

• Strong analytical abilities are a must.

• Proven ability to work effectively with coding staff, trainers, managers, and other stakeholders.
