Coding Coordinator IV

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct timely prebill reviews and audits of patient medical records, primarily focusing on inpatient cases.

• Accurately document the final DRG for each review conducted.

• Evaluate inpatient clinical data, current treatments, and historical medical information to pinpoint gaps in physician documentation.

• Analyze and report on trends as well as opportunities for improvement in coding and documentation.

• Ensure coding and abstracting accuracy through both quantitative and qualitative assessments.

• Engage with physicians and providers to confirm diagnoses and clinical indicators, and prompt for documentation using AHIMA/ACDIS best-practice query principles when required.

• Adhere to coding standards set forth by CMS, AHIMA, AHA, AAPC, and AMA guidelines.

• Develop educational resources and provide training to physicians, coders, and healthcare providers on clinical documentation improvement and the importance of accurate, comprehensive health-record documentation.

• Mentor and audit entry-level coders as well as those being trained in a new specialty.

• Oversee the daily tasks of coding and support staff.

⛳️ Requirements

• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification or an equivalent certification/degree is required.

• Completion of college courses in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

• A minimum of three years of coding experience in a Health Information Management Department or an equivalent role.

• Proficiency in the implementation and maintenance of computer systems.

• Familiarity with CMS, AHIMA, AHA, AAPC, and AMA coding guidelines and best practices.
