Coding Coordinator III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily coding activities and provide support functions for Health Information Management Services.

• Obtain and print management exception reports, assess discrepancies, and implement necessary corrections.

• Recognize opportunities to decrease inpatient DNFB.

• Act as a liaison among the facility, physicians, and ancillary departments to address problematic accounts.

• Formulate coding policies and procedures in alignment with CMS, AHIMA, AHA, and AMA guidelines.

• Manage the installation and provide training for staff on enhancements and updates to coding/abstracting computer systems.

• Educate coding staff on current guidelines, regulations, codes, payment structures, and data element requirements.

• Function as a coding subject matter expert for other departments.

• Analyze and report on trends to identify improvement opportunities.

• Utilize Focus PDCA methodology to enhance coding section performance.

• Ensure database accuracy, manage queries, and conduct report writing related to coding and abstracting.

• Validate the accuracy of coding and abstracting through both quantitative and qualitative reviews.

• Code inpatient and outpatient accounts as needed to avert backlogs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification or an equivalent certification/degree.

• Have college credits in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

• Accumulate three years of coding experience within a Health Information Management Department or an equivalent setting.

• Demonstrate experience in implementing and maintaining computer systems.
