Coding Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Assign suitable ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for outpatient visit categories

• Allocate Evaluation and Management codes for physician interactions

• Conduct thorough reviews of medical records and documentation

• Code relevant diagnoses, procedures, and evaluation and management services

• Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and clinical staff

• Interpret health record documentation to accurately report diagnoses and procedures

• Adhere to ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, Coding Clinic for HCPCs, CPT Assistant, coding conventions, and instructional notes

• Resolve NCCI, NCD/LCD, and other outpatient claim edit failures

• Achieve the established coding productivity and quality benchmarks

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• RHIT or RHIA or CCS or CCS-P or COC or CPC certification

• Membership with AHIMA or AAPC

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute healthcare environment

• Preferred: RHIA/RHIT with CCS, CCS-P, COC, or CPC certification

• Preferred: 4 years of experience in an acute healthcare setting

• Preferred: 4 years of experience in a professional environment

• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding

• Expertise in HCPC Level I and II procedural coding

• Familiarity with NCD/LCD and NCCI edits

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and medical terminology

• Maintain a minimum coding accuracy of 95%

• Ability to meet established minimum coding productivity and quality standards

• Compliance with relevant coding guidelines, policies, procedures, and regulatory and accreditation standards
