Coding Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Allocate appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to various outpatient visit types.

• Assign Evaluation and Management codes for physician interactions.

• Conduct thorough reviews of medical records and documentation to accurately code diagnoses, procedures, and evaluation and management services.

• Collaborate with Patient Accounting, Registration, case managers, and clinical departments on coding and reimbursement matters.

• Interpret health record documentation by utilizing knowledge of clinical and medical terminology.

• Address NCCI, NCD/LCD, and other outpatient claim edit failures.

• Achieve established productivity and quality standards for each type of outpatient encounter.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Comply with organizational policies, the Code of Ethics, the Corporate Compliance Program, and regulatory/accreditation standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Certification as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, COC, or CPC.

• Membership with AHIMA or AAPC.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute healthcare environment.

• Preferred qualifications: RHIA/RHIT with CCS, CCS-P, COC, or CPC.

• Preferred: 4 years of experience in an acute healthcare setting.

• Preferred: 4 years of experience in a professional environment.

• Proficient in ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding.

• Skilled in HCPC Level I and II procedural codes.

• Familiarity with NCD/LCD and NCCI edits.

• Minimum coding accuracy of 95%.

• Knowledgeable in anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and medical terminology.

• Ability to adhere to ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, Coding Clinic for HCPCs, CPT Assistant, coding conventions, and instructional notes.
