Coder II – Surgical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +7 more states.

📋 Description

• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for patients receiving services at CSMC and Cedars-Sinai Affiliates and their locations.

• Accurately apply relevant modifiers to ensure optimal reimbursement and maintain high-quality data.

• Conduct timely and precise CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier coding.

• Stay updated on coding regulations, Medicare guidelines, same-day visits and procedures, consultation versus referral, and surgical practices.

• Implement coding standards for multi-specialty surgical practices and intricate surgical coding.

• Participate in seminars and workshops to receive the latest updates on coding rules and regulations.

• Report issues to the Coding Supervisor and Manager as needed.

• Achieve productivity and quality benchmarks.

• Comprehend coding trends, including NCD, LCD, and CMS guidelines.

• Recognize coding trends and challenges, proposing solutions accordingly.

• Ensure the confidentiality of patient care and business information.

• Adhere to coding and compliance department policies and procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is mandatory.

• A high school diploma or GED is required.

• At least 2 years of experience in ICD-10 and CPT code assignments within a healthcare environment.

• A minimum of 2 years of surgical coding experience in a multi-specialty medical group or physician practice.

• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding as well as payment methodologies.

• Working knowledge of California and National reporting requirements.

• A cover letter detailing experience in orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, neurospine, and multispecialty coding is required.

• Certified Orthopaedic Surgery Coder (COSC) certification is preferred.
