Coder I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.

📋 Description

• Extract information from service documentation and accurately assign and sequence CPT, ICD-10, HCPCs codes, and modifiers into billing systems.

• Review and address coding denials effectively.

• Complete charge sessions in designated work queues promptly.

• Ensure documentation adheres to current EM Guidelines for providers.

• Verify that documentation complies with Teaching Physician Rules mandated by CMS and ULH Policies.

• Confirm that Advanced Practice Provider documentation meets payer-specific guidelines.

• Offer insights and recommendations concerning areas of improvement identified during coding reviews.

• Communicate trending deficiencies to the Senior Manager and Compliance Educator.

• Achieve or surpass organizational standards for coding production and quality.

• Engage in special projects and fulfill other assigned responsibilities.

• Maintain regular communication on a daily/weekly basis with office managers, departments, and providers.

• Respond swiftly to inquiries from managers, providers, departments, and representatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED/equivalent is required.

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is required.

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based (CCS-P), or Certified Coding Assistant (CCA) certified by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is required.

• One to four (1-4) years of experience in physician coding is preferred.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and achieve monthly targets.

• Adhere to compliance with coding regulations and standards.

• Understand and comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to ensure confidentiality.
