Cloud Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Strategize, execute, enhance, and oversee security protocols to protect the agency's networks, systems, and information.

• Ensure that security measures effectively shield digital files and essential electronic infrastructure.

• Create and develop security solutions addressing intricate engineering, system administration, and network challenges.

• Conduct systems management and integration primarily within cloud environments.

• Facilitate the integration and development of automated and AI-driven solutions in sophisticated cloud settings.

• Aid in designing interfaces, quality assurance, and performance benchmarks.

• Execute cost-benefit analyses of contemporary information systems.

• Evaluate available technologies and provide recommendations on adoption and application.

• Assist in the delivery of security engineering to support the agency’s cybersecurity architecture and engineering functions.

• Maintain, investigate, improve, and develop the agency's cybersecurity environment and toolsets.

• Contribute to a resilient architecture that incorporates Zero Trust principles.

• Support the secure deployment, validation, and continuous monitoring of security controls.

• Assist with Security Impact Assessments.

• Help uphold interconnection and data exchange security agreements for safe cloud service integration.

• Collaborate with the security architecture and engineering team to resolve technical issues comprehensively.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or cybersecurity-related discipline.

• 2 to 3 years of professional experience in the field of cybersecurity.

• Proficient understanding of security engineering functions and capabilities.

• Proven experience in implementing, upgrading, or monitoring security controls and tools.

• Practical experience in systems management and integration within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Background in designing or developing security solutions for complex system administration or network issues.

• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

• All work to be conducted within the continental U.S.

• Capability to pass a federal agency suitability or background check.

• Prior experience in federal contracting, particularly in supporting a civilian agency's cybersecurity program (preferred).

• Experience in supporting or creating automation, low-code/no-code, or AI-enabled security capabilities (preferred).

• Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture concepts and reference models (preferred).

• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-53 control implementation from an engineering perspective (preferred).

• Experience with FedRAMP-authorized cloud services and the security agreements that govern their integration (preferred).

• Relevant certifications such as Security+, CySA+, AWS Certified Security, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or GIAC equivalents (preferred).

• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Capacity to work independently and effectively as part of a distributed team.

• Comfort in a fully remote work environment with a camera-on meeting culture.

• Sound judgment regarding decision-making and escalation.

• Collaborative approach with system owners, business owners, developers, and assessors.

• Strong attention to documentation quality and commitment follow-through.
