Cloud Operations DBA, Mid-Level

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Operations team to assist and oversee customer environments in Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP), with a focus on database technologies spanning multiple engines, including SQL, PaaS, MongoDB, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.

• Participate as a member of the Cloud Engineering team in addressing tickets that require thorough diagnosis or are related to crises.

• Ensure that tickets are adequately detailed to facilitate ongoing handling.

• Conduct comprehensive technical diagnosis through the analysis of logs, metrics, traces, and root-cause investigations.

• Implement technical resolutions for crises in partnership with the Incident Commander.

• Carry out complex changes and implementations (GMUD), including planning, execution, and rollback processes.

• Engage in advanced database troubleshooting, addressing issues related to performance, deadlocks, locks, replication, backup/restore, high availability, indexes, and queries.

• Utilize workarounds to stabilize environments while a definitive solution is being developed.

• Draft a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for each incident managed, detailing the timeline, technical diagnosis, identified root cause, and actions taken.

• Present the RCA for review by the Cloud Reliability Engineering (CRE) team prior to sharing it with the customer.

• Document and disseminate knowledge through Knowledge Bases (KBs), playbooks, and runbooks.

• Alert the CRE team regarding customer-impacting crises and ongoing issues, outages, or potential recurrence risks.

• Recognize opportunities for enhancements, automation, and AI integration, and discuss these with management.

• Proficient in database administration and management.

• Experience across platforms such as MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.

• Proven track record in resolving problems and incidents.

• Skilled in analyzing tablespaces, object distribution, storage structures, database fragmentation, and throughput (I/O).

• Experience in tuning SQL query performance.

• Familiarity with backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.

• Knowledge of tuning, index creation, permissions, and user management.

• Understanding of AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP is preferred.

• Familiarity with Linux and Windows environments is advantageous.

• Experience in preparing reports.

• AWS Certified Database – Specialty or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
