This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mauritius.
• Oversee and provide support for both production and non-production AWS environments, which encompass EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, AppFlow, ElastiCache, and associated services.
• Track the health, performance, availability, and costs of the infrastructure, addressing operational issues proactively to prevent user impact.
• Evaluate access controls, security groups, network settings, secrets management, backups, and disaster recovery plans.
• Streamline repetitive cloud, deployment, and operational tasks through Infrastructure as Code and scripting automation.
• Enhance reliability, security, and cost efficiency within AWS.
• Take ownership of operational support and continuous enhancement of integrations among Salesforce, AWS, learning platforms, databases, and various enterprise applications.
• Reverse-engineer and document existing integrations, Lambda functions, AppFlow processes, databases, and technical dependencies.
• Analyze failures across APIs, authentication processes, data mappings, scheduled jobs, event-driven workflows, and interconnected systems.
• Establish logging, monitoring, alerting, retry, reconciliation, and failure-handling protocols.
• Detect silent failures, incomplete data transfers, and recurrent incidents, implementing necessary corrective measures.
• Assess vendor-developed solutions for their supportability, security, maintainability, and technical debt considerations.
• Manage Salesforce deployments across development, testing, and production stages.
• Uphold source-driven development practices and Git-based version control.
• Construct and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce releases.
• Troubleshoot issues related to metadata, Apex, Lightning, Flow, permissions, and deployments.
• Provide support for Salesforce APIs, integration users, authentication, and platform limits.
• Collaborate with administrators, developers, and QA teams to enhance release quality and lessen manual deployment efforts.
• Keep architecture diagrams, integration inventories, operational runbooks, and recovery protocols up to date.
• Engage in incident management, root-cause analysis, and necessary corrective actions.
• Work alongside implementation partners during transitions, ensuring effective knowledge transfer to the internal team.
• Collaborate with the Platform Director, QA Lead, Salesforce team, functional teams, and business system leaders.
• Deliver technical updates, identify risks early, and manage issues until resolution.
• Comply with ALU’s safeguarding policy and uphold a zero-tolerance stance on safeguarding violations.
• Minimum of four years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, systems integration, or a related engineering field.
• Practical experience in supporting production AWS environments and services, including EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Extensive experience in troubleshooting integrations across APIs, cloud services, applications, databases, and authentication layers.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, utilizing Git-based source control, and following structured release processes.
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or similar.
• Scripting proficiency in languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Bash, or similar.
• Strong understanding of monitoring, logging, cloud security, backup, and disaster recovery methodologies.
• Capability to comprehend and enhance complex or poorly documented solutions.
• Excellent ownership, analytical problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Hands-on experience with Salesforce CLI and Salesforce DevOps tools.
• Familiarity with Gearset, Copado, Flosum, or similar tools would be beneficial.
• Experience integrating Salesforce with AWS services, including AWS AppFlow, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, or containerized workloads; Salesforce Platform Events or Change Data Capture; automated testing tools such as Playwright; Student Information Systems, Canvas, or education technology environments; vendor-to-internal service transitions; and relevant AWS, Salesforce, or integration certifications would be advantageous.
