Claims Team Lead – Premises & General Liability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee several teams of examiners, including those for various product lines, and supervise at least seven technical operations colleagues.

• Track the workloads and individual claim activities of team members.

• Deliver training and provide technical/jurisdictional guidance on claims adjudication reports.

• Recognize and report trends, issues, and problems to management, along with suggested actions.

• Update management on new procedures and ideas for ongoing process enhancements.

• Collaborate with management on project coordination.

• Gather, assess, and analyze management reports, taking necessary actions.

• Contribute to the organization's quality initiatives.

• Implement company personnel policies while adhering to staffing standards and training recommendations.

• Conduct interviews, hire new staff, and create performance development plans for colleagues.

• Lead performance discussions, offering guidance, support, and motivation.

• Execute quality reviews on claims to ensure compliance with audit, service contract, and quality standards.

• Serve as the second-level appeal for client and claimant matters, executing final decisions.

• Evaluate reserve amounts for high-cost claims and those exceeding examiner authority.

• Oversee third-party claims and regularly review litigated, serious vocational rehabilitation, questionable, and sensitive claims.

• Maintain client interactions, foster professional relationships, make claim-status recommendations, and provide written summaries of claims.

• Ensure accurate coding and proper documentation of claims files.

• Keep diaries for team claims, including regular updates on complex or high-exposure claims.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

• Professional certification relevant to the line of business is preferred.

• Minimum of six (6) years of claims experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

• At least two (2) years of experience in claims supervision.

• Licensing in all 50 states & Home State or Reciprocal licensing is required.

• Direct reports must possess proper licensing for the jurisdictions served.

• Ability to think clearly and conceptually.

• Strong judgment, troubleshooting skills, problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and discretion.

• Capacity to manage work-related stress and handle multiple priorities at once.

• Ability to meet deadlines.

• Proficient in computer keyboarding.

• Willingness to travel as required.
