This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Workers’ Compensation claims team.
• Assist the Claims Manager with the recruitment process, including interviewing and onboarding new staff.
• Ensure that the team is proficient in all procedures and job responsibilities.
• Guarantee compliance with Workers’ Compensation laws and necessary regulatory reporting obligations.
• Enhance team performance through training, coaching, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Propose merit-based actions, pending managerial approval.
• Offer technical and jurisdictional advice on compensability, investigations, litigation matters, and service account guidelines.
• Collaborate with clients and employees on claim-specific issues, procedures, and special requests.
• Suggest and implement final resolutions.
• Engage in customer claim reviews and deliver presentations.
• Support the objectives of the claims department and the organization as a whole.
• Maintain consistent and regular attendance.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in claims handling.
• A current license or certification in Workers’ Compensation claims must be upheld throughout employment with CorVel.
• State Certification or license as a proficient claims adjuster.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Workers’ Compensation is essential.
• Proven public speaking abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and interpretive skills.
• Effective leadership, management, and motivational capabilities.
• Demonstrated strong customer service competencies.
• Proficient in computer applications and technical skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets.
• Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational abilities.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with claims administration, case management, and cost containment strategies relevant to Workers’ Compensation.
• Willingness to travel overnight and attend meetings as necessary.
