This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Assess new claim assignments to evaluate the nature and severity of claims along with necessary actions.

• Analyze and interpret the relevant policy coverages.

• Promptly reach out to insured parties, witnesses, and other relevant individuals.

• Conduct field investigations for the claims assigned to you.

• Identify risks, exposures, and damages through recorded statements, investigation reports, evidence, and additional documentation.

• Select and retain experts when necessary and with prior approval.

• Implement expense management strategies.

• Complete building evaluations ITV based on the Property Guideline to ascertain whether coinsurance is applicable.

• Determine the extent of damages and prepare estimates using Xactimate, including site inspections, diagrams, and photographs.

• Negotiate with contractors or repair facilities concerning the extent of damage and methods of repair.

• Evaluate damages and make recommendations for reserves.

• Document all file activities through detailed notes and prepare claim reports.

• Make and communicate coverage decisions.

• Notify underwriting about heightened hazards or unusual risk/policy exposure situations.

• Resolve claims through negotiation, settlement, or denial.

• Identify potential for subrogation and position claims for effective recovery.

• Foster relationships with underwriting, risk control, marketing, and independent agencies.

• Engage in ongoing education and participate in claims committees.

• Mentor other Claims Specialists.

• Travel to fulfill field assignments, including potential catastrophe adjusting team assignments.

• Be prepared to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma is required.

• A college degree is preferred.

• Completion of AIC, SCLA, Legal Principles, CCLA, and PCLA from the AEI series, or CPCU within two years.

• Must meet the applicable state licensing laws to handle claims.

• At least 6 years of experience in claims handling is required.

• Familiarity with best practices in claims management.

• Understanding of unfair claims practices and bad faith.

• Knowledge of various lines of policy coverage.

• Awareness of venue and regulatory environments.

• Basic understanding of legal terminology.

• Working knowledge of safety procedures.

• Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret policy language, endorsements, and contracts while applying them to claims.

• Analytical skills to determine coverage, conduct building evaluations, and calculate coinsurance for reserves and settlements.

• Strong negotiation, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Ability to document information clearly in file notes and reports.

• Customer-focused approach.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking ability.

• Effective problem-solving skills.

• Time management and multi-tasking capabilities.

• Must be able to climb ladders and roofs while in the field.

• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
