Claims Manager – Commercial Auto Excess Casualty

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and nurture a team of specialists in Commercial Auto Excess Casualty Claims.

• Promote technical excellence, continuous enhancement, and data-driven decision-making.

• Provide coaching on coverage analysis, litigation strategies, negotiation techniques, and evaluation of high-severity claims.

• Conduct regular reviews of files, performance evaluations, and quality audits.

• Implement performance management practices, including attracting, hiring, retaining, and training team members.

• Oversee complex excess casualty claims ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

• Develop and uphold best practices for claim intake, investigation, assessment, settlement, and recovery.

• Guarantee consistent application of structured-data workflows and Reserv's advanced claims platform.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to enhance automation tools and improve workflows for adjusters.

• Track cycle times, accuracy, severity trends, and customer satisfaction levels.

• Ensure the precision and sufficiency of all components of claim reserving.

• Act as a subject matter expert for MGAs, carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.

• Work in partnership with Underwriting, Actuarial, Account Management, Compliance, and Claim Operations teams.

• Engage in client meetings, audits, and stewardship reviews.

• Assist in the onboarding of new programs.

• Prepare and present claims reports, metrics, and analyses to clients; provide advice on claim trends and loss mitigation strategies.

• Guide adjusters in litigation strategies, management counseling, and complex coverage matters.

• Review and endorse high-value settlement proposals, coverage positions, and strategic claim decisions.

• Formulate strategies to mitigate fraudulent claims while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

• Ensure compliance with multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements and adherence to internal best practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial auto liability or casualty claims, including high-severity or excess layers.

• At least 5 years of management experience, preferably in a remote work setting.

• Previous leadership experience within a carrier, TPA, or MGA environment.

• Strong proficiency in coverage analysis, litigation management, and catastrophic injury assessments.

• Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities with both internal teams and external partners.

• Comfortable with technology and capable of evolving claims systems and processes to enhance efficiencies and outcomes.

• An active adjuster license: resident-state license where applicable, or a Designated Home State (DHS) license.

• Willingness to acquire any additional required licenses within 60 days, including state examinations.

• Proven dedication to quality, accuracy, and meticulous attention to detail.

• High integrity, ethics, and a strong sense of accountability in managing confidential and sensitive information.

• A bachelor's degree in insurance, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

• Professional designations such as CPCU, SCLA, AIC, or equivalents are preferred; a JD is a significant advantage.

• Experience working with MGAs, E&S carriers, or technology-enabled TPAs is preferred.

• Familiarity with structured-data workflows, AI-assisted claims tools, or modern claims platforms is preferred.
