Civil Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop realistic civil engineering assignments based on construction and infrastructure workflows.

• Analyze tender documents, technical specifications, drawings, schedules, and pricing data.

• Prepare and validate quantity schedules, takeoffs, cost estimates, and project budgets.

• Align specified work with the correct pricing entries, ensuring accurate materials, units, conversions, and scope.

• Identify conflicting requirements, missing details, duplicate items, and omissions; document implications and necessary clarifications.

• Generate reference solutions with traceable calculations, source citations, and well-justified assumptions.

• Review outputs generated by AI and independently verify reference answers for accuracy and completeness.

• Collaborate with technical contributors to establish reproducible tasks and evaluation standards.

• Contribute to the evolution of AI by crafting realistic civil engineering tasks that challenge advanced AI agents.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

• Significant professional experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, tender preparation, or technical project evaluation.

• Strong capability to interpret construction specifications, drawings, bills of quantities, and contractual obligations.

• Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems across various trades.

• Proficiency in Excel or LibreOffice Calc, including formulas, unit conversions, and budget reconciliation.

• Confidence in handling lengthy PDF documents and structured data.

• Ability to differentiate documented facts from assumptions and recognize when clarification is necessary.

• Strong written proficiency in English and Spanish for current project documentation.

• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions.

• Professional engineering licensure or relevant estimating or quantity surveying certification.

• Experience in preparing or reviewing public procurement bids.

• Familiarity with estimates for architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, or gas installations.

• Experience with CAD, BIM, digital takeoff tools, Python, or document-processing automation.

• Prior experience in developing technical assessments, reviewing AI outputs, or contributing to benchmarking initiatives.
