Chorti Over the Phone Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide real-time telephonic interpretation between Chʼortiʼ (Chorti) and Standard English for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum proceedings.

• Deliver precise, neutral, and professional interpretation in immigration and legal settings.

• Uphold confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter ethical standards.

• Manage both scheduled assignments and urgent interpretation requests.

• Engage in training sessions, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance evaluations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in Chʼortiʼ (Chorti) and Standard English.

• A minimum of 2 years of professional interpreting experience.

• Experience in immigration, legal, community, NGO, or government interpreting is highly desirable.

• Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and neutrality standards.

• Strong grasp of cultural subtleties and regional differences in Chʼortiʼ (Chorti).

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.

• Availability for necessary onboarding, testing, and training sessions.

• Preferred credentials include community, court, NGO, or professional interpreting certifications.
