Chinese Mandarin Linguist – Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver global language, cryptologic language, and cultural training to military personnel and civilian staff.

• Provide training through various methods including classroom instruction, written resources, technology-driven learning, and distributed education services.

• Create and incorporate global and cryptologic training materials, curriculum, and courseware for approval by the U.S. Government.

• Modify teaching techniques to meet students’ proficiency objectives, learning preferences, and time limitations.

• Counsel the Language Manager and military officials on student evaluation, placement, and training requirements.

• Monitor student progress and communicate training effectiveness to the Language Manager and military.

• Offer translation services in multiple formats, focusing mainly on global and cryptologic language training.

• Collaborate with the unit Language Program Manager to develop and integrate language training resources, technologies, and methodologies into current programs.

⛳️ Requirements

• A current TS/SCI security clearance is required.

• ILRT level 3 or higher in Chinese Mandarin.

• Advanced working proficiency in English (ILRT level 2+, based on DLPT 4).

• A Bachelor's Degree in Chinese Mandarin language, Applied Linguistics, or language education is preferred.

• Relevant experience may be accepted in place of a degree or in combination with an Associate’s degree.

• 2–4 years of military or intelligence background.

• 1–3 years of experience related to language.

• At least 1 year of experience in providing translation and language services.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience delivering language instruction.

• Strong command of Chinese Mandarin, encompassing speaking, grammar, phonology, and linguistic functions.

• Knowledge of the intelligence cycle phases, including collection, processing, exploitation, dissemination, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance activities.

• Must be willing and capable of traveling about 40%, including supporting 1–3 classes annually, with each in-person session lasting 4–6 weeks.

• Flexibility in work hours is essential to accommodate online training schedules across various time zones.
