Chief of Staff – Office of the Chief Information Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Act as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to the CIO

• Translate the CIO's vision into strategic initiatives, operational goals, and execution roadmaps

• Coordinate annual technology strategic plans, operating priorities, and performance objectives for the organization

• Prepare executive presentations, board materials, strategic communications, and leadership briefings

• Represent the CIO in leadership forums, governance meetings, and cross-functional discussions

• Establish and manage the operational cadence for the CIO, including governance processes, strategic reviews, and quarterly business reviews

• Facilitate technology leadership activities and resolve cross-functional dependencies

• Collaborate with the Enterprise PMO to enhance portfolio governance, execution discipline, and reporting transparency

• Oversee technology budgets, forecasts, investment planning, cost optimization, and ROI analysis

• Create financial dashboards linking technology expenditures to business outcomes

• Support strategies for enterprise technology modernization and AI transformation

• Establish governance and performance reporting for enterprise AI investments and adoption initiatives

• Monitor business value generated through AI adoption, modernization, and automation

• Drive the execution of CIO-sponsored programs and organizational commitments

• Develop executive communications, monthly technology performance reports, quarterly business reviews, and annual strategic updates

• Facilitate communication across geographically dispersed technology organizations

• Support executive engagement with vendors, partners, and external stakeholders

• Coordinate technology leadership objectives, succession planning, capability assessments, resource optimization, and strategic hiring

• Create executive dashboards that cover service delivery, reliability, financial performance, cybersecurity, and transformation outcomes

• Coordinate operational performance reviews and track corrective actions

• Support oversight of business continuity, disaster recovery, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance

• Facilitate the escalation and resolution of enterprise issues

• Identify opportunities to enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and stakeholder satisfaction

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field

• Over 15 years of progressive experience in technology leadership, business operations, strategic planning, management consulting, or enterprise program management

• At least 5 years of experience supporting senior executives or leading complex, cross-functional initiatives

• Proven experience in enterprise technology governance, financial management, and strategic execution

• Strong understanding of enterprise technology organizations, including infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, applications, data, and digital transformation

• Demonstrated ability to develop executive-level communications, presentations, business cases, and performance reports

• Experience managing competing priorities and influencing senior leaders without direct reporting authority

• Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and relationship management skills

• Master's degree or MBA preferred

• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical services, or another highly regulated industry preferred

• Experience supporting a CIO, CTO, Chief Digital Officer, or enterprise technology executive preferred

• Familiarity with enterprise AI, intelligent automation, data management, and technology product operating models preferred

• Experience with technology financial management, cost optimization, and enterprise transformation programs preferred

• Knowledge of technology governance frameworks, IT service management, and enterprise portfolio management preferred

• Ability to meet office-based physical demands, including prolonged standing or sitting and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds
