This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Act as an ambassador and guardian of the organization's faith, mission, and purpose.
β’ Interact with businesses, their workforce, and the surrounding community.
β’ Regularly visit company work sites, typically on a weekly basis.
β’ Meet with employees and their immediate families in hospitals, long-term care facilities, retirement homes, funeral homes, private residences, and other locations.
β’ Offer confidential pastoral discussions and connect individuals with suitable resources.
β’ Organize specialized support for employees and families facing specific needs.
β’ Engage in the planning, officiating, or follow-up of funerals.
β’ Conduct visits to correctional facilities as required.
β’ Collaborate with companies in response to deaths, serious injuries, and other tragedies.
β’ Provide support to laid-off or terminated employees during their career transitions.
β’ Facilitate activities for spiritual enrichment.
β’ Supply documentation and additional resources upon request.
β’ Represent companies to their clients when appropriate.
β’ Take part in new-employee orientation and introduce the chaplaincy service.
β’ Carry out other tasks as requested by senior leadership, with authorization from the COO/EDO.
β’ Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team in an interfaith setting.
β’ Openness to a variety of lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
β’ Exceptional listening skills and the capacity to interact with clients, employees, and their families effectively.
β’ Competence in delivering presentations to community audiences.
β’ Ability to respond appropriately to families and staff in high-stress situations.
β’ Spiritual maturity and a commitment to a Christian way of life, aligning with the values of MCC/MCHAP ministry.
β’ Basic understanding of the Holy Bible and its appropriate application.
β’ Profession of faith in Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Bible-based church.
β’ Ability to engage professionally, diplomatically, patiently, and courteously with diverse groups.
β’ Capacity to establish and maintain effective, harmonious working relationships.
β’ Competence in making administrative and procedural decisions, exercising sound judgment regarding sensitive and confidential matters.
β’ Strong oral and written communication skills.
β’ Emotional resilience when confronting human suffering, emergencies, and stress.
β’ Ability to analyze information, identify issues or objectives, and follow through effectively.
β’ Skill in developing solutions and resolving problems.
β’ Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, internet applications, email, and other relevant software.
β’ Ability to comprehend and learn new technological tools.
β’ Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance; active state driver's license and minimum state-required auto insurance when servicing clients.
β’ Successful completion of background and reference checks prior to hiring.
β’ Part-time schedule of 3 hours per week.
β’ Remote field work opportunities.
β’ No guaranteed minimum hours; assigned hours are generally consistent but may fluctuate based on chaplain availability and client needs.
