Certified Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Evaluate clinical and demographic data from health records to assign the correct ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes.

• Facilitate accurate and compliant coding of outpatient medical visits.

• Review and assess medical records to determine diagnosis and procedure codes.

• Implement ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

• Identify any documentation deficiencies and initiate queries for clarification.

• Address routine coding edits and initiate inquiries to ensure precise and compliant code assignment.

• Manage designated work queues while upholding productivity and accuracy standards.

• Collaborate effectively with team members in coding and internal partners.

• Communicate documentation requirements and coding inquiries to relevant stakeholders.

• Utilize coding tools and references to resolve common issues and escalate as necessary.

• Accurately complete assigned coding tasks within established deadlines.

• Adhere to established workflows and identify basic opportunities for efficiency improvements.

• Support coding outcomes that contribute to reimbursement and data integrity.

• Adapt to changes in coding guidelines, tools, and payer requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Certification: One of the following – AHIMA-CCA, AHIMA-RHIA, AHIMA-RHIT, AHIMA-CCS, AAPC-CPC, AAPC-CPC-A, AAPC-CIC, or AAPPC-COC.

• Apply ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding for low-complexity outpatient encounters.

• Utilize coding guidelines and payer regulations for accurate and compliant code assignment.

• Review documentation, identify gaps, and initiate clarification when necessary.

• Resolve routine coding edits.

• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards within assigned work queues.
