Certified Coder, Abstractor – Health Information Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review and analyze patient records

• Assign the correct diagnosis and procedure codes

• Ensure compliance and accuracy in accordance with coding guidelines and industry standards

• Complete coding and abstractor tasks autonomously with minimal oversight

• Adapt to changes from regulators/payers as well as software updates and implementations

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory

• Technical Diploma or Associate Degree in Healthcare, Healthcare Information Management, Administration, or a related field is preferred

• One or more of the following credentials: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based (CCS-P), or Certified Coding Associate (CCA)

• Completion of a recognized Coding/Abstractor education program is required

• Strong reading comprehension skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

• Flexibility in response to changes from regulators/payers

• Ability to work independently and ensure all tasks are completed accurately and thoroughly with minimal supervision

• Proficient with computers and capable of adapting to software changes or updates that affect daily workflow

• A minimum of 2 years of coding experience in an acute care setting is preferred
