CDI Optimization Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the workforce, productivity, and regional operations stream for a significant enterprise CDI transformation.

• Assess staffing levels, schedules, vacancies, organizational structure, and work distribution among corporate, regional, and local CDI teams.

• Analyze review volumes, productivity metrics, coverage, backlog, and case complexity; resolve discrepancies prior to target recommendations.

• Develop staffing models and coverage scenarios based on demand.

• Identify redundancies, prevent unnecessary handoffs, and pinpoint opportunities for regional load balancing.

• Collaborate with clinical and workflow specialists to redesign review sequencing and prioritization.

• Establish productivity scorecards, coaching thresholds, and escalation processes.

• Educate managers on the consistent use of operational tools.

• Assist with regional coverage adjustments while tracking physician query burden and subsequent impacts on coding and pre-bill teams.

• Maintain documentation supporting executive staffing decisions.

• Suggest corrective actions when quality, coverage, or workload stability is threatened.

• May assist with related Sage client projects as capacity permits.

⛳️ Requirements

• Current RN license or another pertinent clinical license.

• Minimum of three years of experience in clinical documentation integrity.

• CCDS, CDIP, or CCS certification.

• Proven expertise in Excel analysis, CDI workqueue interpretation, and workflow enhancement.

• Capability to clearly articulate staffing assumptions and guide operational leaders through transitions.

• Preferred: Experience in multi-facility CDI management.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Epic reporting or workflow.
