
CDI Consultant – Second Level Review, Part Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct timely second-level evaluations of patient medical records
• Ensure documentation is accurate and comprehensive, reflecting the severity and complexity of patient illnesses
• Collaborate with providers and coders to guarantee that chart documentation accurately represents patient complexity
• Educate and engage with providers
• Perform concurrent and post-discharge record assessments
• Confirm that Present on Admission (POA) conditions are documented accurately within required regulatory timeframes
• Ensure documentation reflects precise safety ratings and quality-of-care scores, including Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs)
• Participate in educational sessions and provide constructive feedback to coders, CDI Reviewers, and Hospital Quality Departments
• Execute regular standardized audits to ensure compliance with POA, Hospital-Acquired Conditions (HAC), and PSI documentation
• Monitor and analyze data for quarterly reviews of CDI and Coding team data quality
• Address issues that may impact documentation or coding quality
• Ensure that coding and DRG assignments adhere to CMS rules, regulations, coding practices, and conventions
• Utilize the OIG workplan to recognize patterns in payer denials and target education and focused audits
• Implement coding, DRG, and quality-score changes that affect data quality or revenue as it relates to Case Mix Index (CMI)
• Be prepared to travel to field sites up to 15% of the time if required
• RN with a BSN is mandatory
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical documentation
• Strong clinical training background
• Experience with Second Level Reviews
• Familiarity with Epic systems
• Experience with Solventum
• Excellent analytical skills for evaluating medical records
• Capability to utilize a PC for medical record reviews
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Effective communication skills with e4health management and clients
• Candidates for U.S.-based positions must possess legal authorization to work in the United States
• Verification of employment eligibility is required upon hiring
• Visa sponsorship is not available
• Preferred experience with Smarter Dx
• Preferred familiarity with Epic and 3M 360
