Catastrophe Field Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete claim adjustment process independently, without involvement from Desk Adjusters.

• Gather and assess loss-related information and analyze insurance policy provisions to make informed coverage determinations.

• Authorize claim payments within designated authority limits and suggest payments exceeding that threshold.

• Reach out to insured individuals to arrange inspections and travel to affected properties.

• Assess damaged properties, including roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other confined spaces.

• Document damages through photographs, sketches, and scope, including areas that are undamaged.

• Draft claims correspondence and keep insured parties updated throughout the process.

• Decide on the investigation method and the extent of investigation for each claim.

• Engage external experts or investigators when necessary.

• Review investigative and claim documentation to ascertain loss details.

• Conduct interviews with insured individuals and witnesses, both recorded and unrecorded.

• Record investigative steps in claim files.

• Assess coverage and provide coverage recommendations.

• Establish total claim value and either request or issue claim payments.

• Address inquiries promptly.

• Work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to resolve claims-related issues.

• Support catastrophe operations, which may involve working additional hours or traveling to impacted regions.

• Communicate with Desk Adjusters regarding issues and the need for expert assistance.

• Present reserve recommendations to Desk Adjusters within 48 hours post-inspection.

• Email reports and estimates to the home office.

• Aid Desk Adjusters with pricing and technical concerns.

⛳️ Requirements

• A four-year college degree is preferred.

• Previous insurance experience with an insurance carrier or agency is required.

• Capable of accessing and inspecting all areas of a dwelling or structure, including roofs, attics, and crawl spaces.

• Must be able to carry, set up, and safely ascend a Type IA ladder rated for 300 LB/136 KG and weighing 50 pounds or more.

• Competent in safely climbing a ladder for roof inspections.

• Willingness to work extended hours during significant catastrophe events or travel to affected locations as necessary.

• Proficient in utilizing various software programs throughout the day.

• Ability to maintain compliance with quality standards and state regulations.
